Rain, Mud & Golden Hats – Cowgirl Confident Week Recap

We just wrapped up an unforgettable, muddy, inspiring, and downright empowering week at Cowgirl Confident—and while I’m still rinsing Oklahoma mud off my boots, my heart is full and my brain is buzzing with everything we learned.

Let me break it down day by day (because it truly deserves a play-by-play):

Day One: Temple Grandin and Soaked Socks
We kicked things off with a downpour. It rained. A lot. But honestly? Even the mud couldn’t dampen the energy of this group. The true highlight was getting to hear from Dr. Temple Grandin herself. Listening to her speak was a moment I’ll never forget—her insight, wisdom, and passion for livestock and humane handling were beyond inspiring.

Day Two: Chores, Trailer Triumphs & Vet Talk
This was the ultimate confidence booster kind of day. We started with the chore challenge—and our team won! We were proudly crowned with golden cowgirl hats (which we wore with just the right amount of sass and mud-splattered pride).
Later, we dove into lessons with several incredible veterinarians. We covered common cattle illnesses, what to watch for, how to treat them, and most importantly, how to prevent them. And yes—I backed up a trailer! Without hitting a thing! I may or may not demand applause every time I do it now.

Day Three: Preg Checks and Pulling Calves
By day three, we were basically cowgirl vets-in-training. We learned how to draw blood, give vaccinations, check for pregnancy (my heifer was pregnant—woohoo!), and how to pull a calf if the situation calls for it. I hope I never have to pull a real one, but knowing how to do it if needed is a game changer.

We also did a fun farm shirt swap, which was such a great way to share and support each other’s farm brands. And of course, C-Ewe Farmstead showed up with the most adorable and delicious cow cookies—because we don’t just bring the skills, we bring the snacks.

Beyond the Barn: Friendships and Hot Tubs
One of the most special parts of the week? Reconnecting with a friend from high school. Life took us in different directions, but this week brought us back together in the best way possible—through mud, medicine, and memories.
And let me tell you… after long days of hauling, learning, and running on coffee and adrenaline, we were so thankful for our VRBO hot tub. Those sore muscles didn’t stand a chance with nightly soaks, and late-night chats!

Final Thoughts: Mud, Muscles, and Memories
This week wasn’t just about the hands-on skills—it was about finding strength, sisterhood, and a whole lot of humor in the chaos. From learning how to care for cattle to bonding with an amazing group of women, Cowgirl Confident was everything I hoped for and more.

We’re already talking about coming back for the fall session—because once you’ve worn a golden cowgirl hat in the mud, you kind of crave round two.
